2110bc - THE SITUATION

Take a look at that lovely river basin to the Southwest, between the French capital and the Indian capital.

(And now try to recall how irritated you are when a neighboring Civ plants a town right in between your own towns.)

1525bc - CULTURE ATTACK

By placing a town between the Paris and Delhi, we are robbing them of working space around their towns, and applying severe cultural pressure. But with their capitals so close, can we hold onto Satsuma? Or will it flip to the another nation?

Pop-rush Temples.

210ad - HOLDING ON

After many centuries, Satsuma is a major cultural center in its own right, with a Temple, Colosseum, Marketplace,  Library, Courthouse, and now a Cathedral.

370ad - ANGRY NEIGHBORS

The French have been long irritated about our founding of Satsuma right next to their capital. They finally declare war. Paris falls the first turn to our Horsemen; Lyons and Orleans shortly thereafter.

Satsuma is so advanced it is now building wonders. (Osaka is not building the Forbidden Palace, but will switch to J.S. Bach in a few turns.)
